GENET et MICHON attributed ART DECO chandelier. Pure late 1930s /1940s French design. Large 80cm diameter (31”) ideal for a large room or dining table. Elegant 20cm (8”) diameter shades. Vintage original.
A colleague whose knowledge I respect, attributes this fixture to GENET et MICHON. It is not signed only numbered “1020” and the socket covers are a well known design only used by G&M. I have restored hundreds of French chandeliers and this fixture certainly demonstrates the quality and craftsmanship expected from Genet et Michon. The castings are thick 3mm (1/8”) minimum, heavy and machined to fit precisely. Little extra touch there is a strip formed precisely to the curved shape of each arm to cover the opening and conceal the wiring; first time I have seen this. The central section’s hexagonal surface is acid etched to give a unique look and design. An elegant and quality fixture.
The six pressed glass shades are mottled white glass with a stunning and pure1940s French design; almost like flat champagne glasses that were popular in the period. No chips or cracks.
Furnished with new electrical wiring OK for 220v or 110v.
70cm drop x 80cm diameter
27” drop x 21” diameter
