GENET et MICHON Large Art Deco chandelier, elegant, anitique original Item ref 2677

€850.00

GENET et MICHON attributed ART DECO chandelier. Large 80cm diameter (31”) ideal for a large room or dining table. Elegant 20cm (8”) diameter shades superb look when lit. Original antique.

A colleague whose knowledge I respect, attributes this fixture to GENET et MICHON. It is not signed only numbered “1020”. I have restored hundreds of French chandeliers and this fixture certainly demonstrates the quality and workmanship expected from Genet et Michon. The castings are thick, heavy and machined to fit precisely, There is a strip, formed precisely to the curved shape of each arm to cover the opening and conceal the wiring; first time I have seen this. The central section’s hexagonal surface is acid etched to give a unique look and design. It is an elegant and quality fixture.

The six pressed glass shades are also special. PETITOT used this model in many of his chandeliers. Fabricated by one of the major glass lighting producers, they were used almost exclusively on PETITOT chandeliers in the period. This model today is extremely rare and complements wonderfully the fixture; no chips or cracks.

Furnished with new electrical wiring.
