Large Art Deco wall sconce ideal for a narrow wall or staircase. As shown in the pictures this sconce is larger than a champagne bottle 35cm (14”) tall. Vintage original France 1930s.
The pressed glass shades are signed GILLES. Paul GILLES did not manufacture glass and had his designs made by the best glass factories like MULLER Freres and DEGUE. Being signed means this model is an exclusive design made specifically for GILLES and the glass producers could not offer it to other lighting designers. You can see the quality and craftsmanship GILLES required in this glass from its graceful shape, the stylish motifs cast in the glass, its thickness, colour and the quality of the surface frosting.
