Art Deco style sculpture in solid Brazilian rosewood of a nude woman with a shawl. Classic Art Deco pose. Signed G.C. 65 on the back (presumably made in 1965). Brazil was on the world stage in the 1960s with the Bossa Nova movement and its new capital Brasilia. I was fortunate to be in Brazil at this time and was impressed with their furniture design, modern, stylish and made in solid rosewood with leather. This figure (presumed to be European) was sculpted in solid Brazilain rosewood consistent with the 1960s period. Onyx base.
